Hanmer Springs isn’t on the tourist radar to the extent of Queenstown, Wanaka or Tekapo but it could become the next high-profile destination if holidaymakers and people seeking a more relaxed pace of life continue to home in on the picturesque alpine town. Property in Hanmer Springs moves at a different pace to most markets, with many people visiting in summer before following up with inquiries in winter. The township attracts visitors year-round with its hot pools, ski fields, forest walks, biking opportunities and increasingly lively hospitality scene. It is also an easy detour for people travelling to or from the West Coast via the Lewis Pass, and it is less than two hours’ drive from Christchurch. However, with property owners often waiting to get a feel for buyer appetite before listing, the period of reflection many buyers undergo means there isn’t as deep a pool of properties to show as there could be. It is an active market and buyers are looking so what we need are listings. At this time of year a lot of people are discovering how good Hanmer is. It’s one of those places that tends to always have a buyer, it just has a slower sales process. Towns like this seem to bubble along, quietly growing, and then at some point they get discovered. It happened to Queenstown, then Wanaka and now Tekapo. Hanmer could be next. We could see it double in size in our lifetime. Harcourts Four Seasons has had an office in Hanmer Springs for nearly 25 years, much of the time operating under the business’s former name, Twiss-Keir Realty. A long-serving sales team have close connections in the community and little happens in the area they aren’t aware of. Four Seasons’ coverage of the market extends much further, however. With seven other offices in Canterbury and nearly 100 salespeople, the franchise regularly connect buyers with properties from across the region – especially lifestyle properties and those in recreational hotspots like Hanmer Springs. Hanmer’s got a big catchment. It’s only an hour-and-a-half from Christchurch and even less from Rangiora so people are always looking. What we want is for people who own property there to recognise that there will be a lot of visitors over summer who could be potential buyers. If it’s in the back of your mind to sell, let us know because we've got a good presence on the main street and a lot of reach in Canterbury. Harcourts is New Zealand’s largest real estate company and has been named the most trusted brand in the industry by Reader’s Digest for seven years straight. It has also been voted best in service for the past three years. To find out more, call Harcourts Four Seasons on 0800 789 1011 or email [email protected]. il [email protected]. Leave a Reply. |
