Having just arrived back from a long holiday in Europe it has struck me what a great place we live in. As cities’ go Christchurch is a small one in an international sense, but to me it is vibrant and exciting with so much going on. With Christchurch Cup and Show Week upon us we see the buzz in the city move up a gear, race days at Addington and Riccarton coincide with the Canterbury A&P Show nearby to create an amazing experience for both locals and those visiting alike. Personally, I am looking forward to taking my two girls to the A&P Show on Friday, soaking up the atmosphere, eating rubbish food and just wandering around watching something I wouldn’t normally see – like wood chopping, sheep trials and sheering, not to mention all of the livestock on display. Saturday races at Riccarton are a great way of catching up with old and new friends, many of whom are clients. It is the perfect lead in to the pre-Christmas rush and is a time for reflection before one final push through to the end of 2015. Being away over the winter months meant I didn’t get to feel the cold clear days and see the slowdown in the real estate market that traditionally occurs in winter. We came back to a busy market with activity picking up as the days get hotter. This year there has been a slightly lower number of listings coming on giving the market more of a sellers’ market feel than we have been used to over the past months. If I was to sell, now would be an excellent time as the buyers are out in force and looking to spend their money and secure their future before the end of the year. We live in a great place that is constantly changing, growing and morphing into our new city. What Christchurch will become is unknown but one thing is for sure I am happy to be back in Christchurch and enjoy the ease of living in such a great place. |
