Once could have been passed off as good luck, twice was the beginnings of a trend, but three times shows Harcourts is truly walking the talk when it comes to delivering great service. The company was last month awarded the Reader’s Digest Quality Service Gold Award in real estate sales for the third year in a row. Additionally, Harcourts has won the Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Award for seven years straight – every year since the award’s inception. James Twiss, co-owner of the local Harcourts Four Seasons franchise, says the awards reinforce what their customers have been saying for years in their own surveys. “We’ve got an exceptionally hard-working team with a passion for what they do. For a lot of people, buying or selling a property can be quite stressful so it’s very encouraging to be recognised as providing the gold standard in customer service,” he says. “We’ve been lucky enough to work with a lot of wonderful people this year, so a big thanks is owed to all our customers. We'd like to wish them all the best for Christmas and the New Year. It’s been our pleasure.” Harcourts won its Quality Gold Service Award based on four criteria: providing a personalised customer experience; understanding the customer’s needs; making the process quick and easy; and meeting or exceeding expectations. Market research agency Catalyst surveyed 1500 recent users of a real estate company to find the winner. The challenge now is to stay on top, James says. With 97 salespeople in eight branches across Canterbury, Harcourts Four Seasons is one of the pre-eminent franchises of the country’s largest real estate business. The franchise has grown rapidly in recent years, expanding from its head office in Rangiora to include branches in Kaiapoi, Hanmer Springs, Lincoln, Rolleston and in Christchurch in Belfast, The Palms and Hornby. A key advantage is the ability of each salesperson with Harcourts to show any property listed with the company, meaning clients don’t just get one salesperson but are taken on by the entire network. Giving back is also integral to Harcourts' approach, and over the past five years, Four Seasons have gifted over $160,000 to the Harcourts Foundation. This has gone to various charities and more than 60 schools in and around Selwyn, Waimakariri and Hurunui. “Our people live in the communities they sell in and they genuinely want to make a positive contribution to them. That's a biggie," James says. "In return they get ongoing training and a lot of specialised knowledge, which as a group gives us a real edge."
